Steve Sarns
Towards the end of 2016, I was living a wonderfully active and healthy life with a fantastic wife, two kids, my dog, Bailey, along with my beloved Ford F150 Platinum pick-up truck. On top of this, I owned a company, NuStep Inc., where I came up with the idea and concept of our innovative recumbent cross trainer that we developed from the ground up and manufactured in Ann Arbor, Michigan. We filled a customer need and due to that, our company was a success. I loved what I did, directing the sales and marketing of our products all the while loving our NuStep team members and the inspirational customers we served. What could be better than loving what you do, and as a bonus, getting paid for it? My wife always appreciated that part. We had much to look forward to in growing NuStep with visionary ideas and products.
I am driven to connect cancer warriors and survivors to each other and to allies in the fight.
Then my family made the decision to sell our company, and at age 60, I began to experience the growth of chronic internalized anxiety. It started slowly and became intense. I started to feel conflicted in my thoughts of selling our company–my “baby” — to the point that it was affecting my sleep, concentration, and energy.
Altered Life Course
As time moved on I felt a mysterious alien bump that quickly morphed into a lump, growing and throbbing with force behind and beside my left eye. At this moment, my life immediately altered course. Way off course. I abandoned the shores of my island of internal turbulence about selling our company and sailed into an inclusive community of travelers who were taking on a cancer journey. This otherworldly experience unveiled to me remarkable self-discoveries and a vision of what life means and why it is worth fighting for. My passion is to share my epoch stories on my fight against cancer, winning, and striving to live an honest, authentic life. One that, I hope, will encourage you to live a life that brings you bountiful raindrop tears of joy.
